People Incorporated founded People Incorporated Financial Services in 2001 to address business development financing needs throughout Southwest Virginia. People Incorporated Financial Services administers the microenterprise development and small business financing activities for People Incorporated.

People Incorporated Financial ServicesI offers loans, development services and financial products to small and emerging businesses. People Incorporated Financial Services works to strengthen local economies in a 17 jurisdiction service area including the counties of Bland, Buchanan, Carroll, Dickenson, Floyd, Grayson, Lee, Russell, Scott, Smyth, Tazewell, Washington, Wise, and Wythe and the cities of Bristol, Galax and Norton.

People Incorporated Financial Services has extensive experience providing small business and microenterprise development and lending services in low-income communities, and is the only CDFI headquartered in rural Southwest Virginia. Since its inception in 1992, the People Incorporated Financial Services loan portfolio has grown to consist of 308 microenterprise and business loans, which created to date have created 475 jobs and retained 180 more.

A 16-member Board of Directors governs the organization, which is staffed through People Incorporated.
